DO:
· Have your items out for collection at the beginning of your scheduled collection week, the truck only makes one pass.
· Place items at curb instead of the alley.
· Cut tree limbs in lengths of 8 feet or less.
· Separate brush from bulky items to help achieve recycling objectives.
DO NOT:
· Place items on top of gas meters, water meters, electrical boxes, under low wires / building overhangs, or within 6 feet of cars, mailboxes, or other objects.
· Place items in the alley.
· Place out items that are listed as “items not collected”
ITEMS NOT COLLECTED
Items not collected include batteries, tires, glass, liquids of any kind, hazardous waste, asbestos, junk vehicles or parts thereof, dirt, rocks, asphalt, shingles, construction / demolition debris, items containing Freon, corrugated metal, regular household garbage, clothing, or any items other than definition of brush / bulky items as described above.

Waste Management Services Waste Management Services for Palmhurst is provided by Allied Waste as of January 2007. Billing will appear on your Sharyland Water Supply Corporation water bill. The monthly service charge is $19.50. Requesting an additional container is $5.85 extra plus an administrative fee of $5.00. New accounts will have an activation fee of $10.00.The service includes one 96 gallon container with once a week trash pick up and once a month brush/bulky item pick up. Once a week trash pick up will be every Friday during the time frame of 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM. Brush/Bulky item pick up according to schedule shown at left.
Bulky items include furniture, washers, dryers, tables, chairs, sofas, etc… Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and other items containing Freon must have had the Freon removed by a licensed facility and be labeled as such before collection. Garage Sales Permits can be obtained at the Palmhurst City Hall. Each household is entitled to four permits per calendar year. The fee for a garage sale permit is $10 for two consecutive days or $5 per day. Garage sales are not to exceed daylight hours.

Brush Permits Brush permits are issued at the City Hall. Permits are free of charge and are valid for one week. There is no limit as to how many permits can be pulled out yearly. Brush can be disposed of at the two McAllen Recycling Center locations listed below. The Bentsen location will not accept vehicles with attached trailers; they will be redirected to the Idela Ave location.

Burn permits are free of charge and can be filled out at the City Hall. Permit is valid for three weeks. There is no limit as to how many permits can be pulled out yearly. An inspection of the burn site is required and must receive approval. Once approved, it’s the applicant’s obligation to call City Hall and inquire if the day they wish to burn is a “good burn day”. The permit is given with the understanding that the City is not held liable for any damages that may occur to adjoining property(ies). The fire must be supervised at all times. One hundred gallons of dispensable water or a dependable flowing water supply is mandatory. Brush pile(s) must be at least 100 feet from any structure. The burning permit is valid during the following:
